Billy Peddycoart
A friend asked me to sit in.  I played guitar and mandolin for Billy on his CD "Rumor Has It".  He's a great steel guitar player, check him out.

Northern Lights
Recorded with the Nashville North house band.  A rare find in recycled CD bins.

Better late than never - it's an old saying that is totally appropriate in a lot of circumstances.  Thirty some years ago, a band I formed, with a couple of friends, "Poker Flatts", was based out of the Macomb, Illinois area.  Perhaps not as well known as say "The Cadillac Cowboys" or "The Havana Ducks", the band was doing something that very few did back in the day - play our own brand of original country music mixed in with cover tunes in bars.  Fast forward.

A few months ago I was contacted by Bill Harroun from the Macomb public radio station.  He wanted to put together a documentary on the country-rock music scene of that time.  Well the project is finished and was aired on public radio in April.  It's called "Black Dirt Music - the country/rock music of West Central Illinois in the late 70's.  It features some of my music from the "Poker Flatts" album along with exerpts from an interview I did with Bill.  It also has a cut from my current CD "Daybreak".  It was great to be included in the project, also very satisfying to know that someone was listening and enjoyed what we did.

Thanks to the folks at  Bluegrass Midwest for the chance to play this summer - hope we can do it again.
